Madison Snow set the pace in practice 1 for Paul Miller Racing in VIRginia International Raceway for the IMSA Sportscar Championship’s sole GT-only race of the season.

The BMW driver, in the GTD Pro class, lapped VIR in 1:43.561 to go quickest, over half a second quicker than AO Racing’s Lauren Heimrich in the #77 Porsche 911 GT3 R. Third was Corvette’s Alexander Sims, in the #3 Corvette Z06 GT3.R, a further two and a half tents off Heinrich.

In the GTD class, the only class competing in the race, Frederik Schandorff went quickest onboard the #70 Inception Racing McLaren 720S GT3 EVO, setting a 1:44.381. Next up in GTD was Steven McAleer, driving the #66 Gradient Racing Acura NSX GT3, while Robby Foley was third in class in the #96 Turner Motorsports BMW M4 GT3.

The session ran without any red flag stoppages, although there were a number of minor off track incidents. Anders Fjordbach took a trip off road in the #86 MDK Motorsports Porsche, while Harry Tincknell, making his VIR debut, went into the barriers in his Multimatic Ford Mustang GT3.
