The NTT IndyCar Series took to World Wide Technology Raceway Friday afternoon to decide the grid for Saturday’s race around the 1.25-mile oval.
Scott McLaughlin earned pole with his two-lap effort, completing both laps in 50.0079 seconds and averaging 179.972 MPH in his Team Penske Chevy.
The Meyer Shank Racing duo of Felix Rosenqvist and David Malukas set the second and third best times respectively, but Malukas will move forward to the front row on account of a grid penalty for Rosenqvist.

Colton Herta looked like he would be able to claim pole for himself, but he spun on his second lap and backed his #26 entry into the wall. He will start from near the back.
Saturday’s race takes place in the late afternoon at 5:30 PM central time, with 260 laps on the docket.
