Red Bull sets launch date for 2018 F1 challenger

Red Bull is set to unveil its 2018 Formula 1 challenger, the Renault-powered RB14, on February 19.

Red Bull finished third in last year's championship, having hoped overhauled technical regulations would thrust it back into contention for overall honours, only for early correlation issues to hamper its prospects.

The operation regularly qualified substantially adrift of Mercedes and Ferrari, but comfortably clear of the chasing pack, and picked up a victory in the dramatic Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Despite year-long reliability woes, with Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen failing to reach the chequered flag 13 times, matters improved after the summer break.

Verstappen took dominant victories in Malaysia and Japan, laying down his intentions for 2018, as he also signed a long-term contract, tying him to the team for the next few years.

Ricciardo, meanwhile, is entering the final year of his current deal, having graduated to the senior squad from Toro Rosso in 2014.

The team, which has secured Aston Martin title sponsorship, is set to be the second to unveil its 2018 challenger, with Williams poised to commence the busy launch period this Thursday.

Sauber and Renault will both launch its 2018 challengers next Tuesday, with Mercedes and Ferrari following suit two days later.

McLaren will unveil on February 23, while Force India and Haas are set to join Toro Rosso in displaying its new package on the opening morning of pre-season testing in Spain (February 26).

Confirmed Launch Dates:

Williams – February 15
Red Bull – February 19
Sauber – February 20
Renault – February 20

Ferrari – February 22
Mercedes – February 22
McLaren – February 23
Toro Rosso – February 26
