Sky Sports F1 and Channel 4 have confirmed its broadcasting schedule for Formula 1 in the United Kingdom in 2018.

This year marks the final season of the current Formula 1 deal for viewers in the UK, which first came into action in 2012, before Channel 4 replaced the BBC as the terrestrial broadcaster.

Sky Sports will take up exclusive rights in 2019, with the agreement running through 2024, with Liberty Media having confirmed that the deal, which was finalised under Formula 1’s previous ownership, cannot be tweaked.

For 2018, Sky Sports will show 11 of the 21 races exclusively live, with Channel 4 carrying live coverage of the other 10, and highlights of the remainder.

As per the initial agreement, the British Grand Prix and season finale, in Abu Dhabi, will be available live on Channel 4.

Channel 4 will also carry live coverage of events in Bahrain, Azerbaijan, Monaco, Austria, Belgium, Singapore, Japan and the United States.

The season opener, in Australia, and two of the final three races – in Mexico and Brazil – will be shown exclusively live on Sky Sports, along with events in China, Spain, Canada, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy and Russia.

Scott Young, Head of Formula 1 at Sky Sports, said: "There is huge anticipation this year; can Hamilton create even more history, how will Ferrari and Red Bull close the gap, where will the young drivers emerge in the reckoning?

"Each season we look to find new ways to improve the coverage and entertain our viewers and this year will be no different.”

Sky Sports will also continue to carry live coverage of feeder series Formula 2 and GP3.
