Lola Motorsports has announced it will compete in the FIA Formula E World Championship until at least 2030.

One of the most iconic names in British motorsport, Lola announced it will link-up with ABT for the forthcoming Season 11 back in March, its first major motor racing competition since its regeneration two years ago, in partnership with Japanese giants, Yamaha.

Today, before a wheel has even been turned on the project, Lola have made the firm commitment to continue it for the duration of the GEN4 era, becoming the fourth manufacturer after Nissan, Jaguar and Porsche to do so.

It may come as little surprise, with Mark Preston, Lola’s Director of Motorsport, having been hands-on with the ABT Cupra team since the initial announcement, having been seen at races since the announcement, as well as telling Motorsport Week that a GEN3 Evo car will be tested by the team, which is due to take place in the near future.

Formula E’s CEO Jeff Dodds said:

“With their historic return to top-tier motorsport for Season 11 next year, we’re delighted that Lola Cars will also be committing to the GEN4 era – promising their presence will be on the Formula E grid until at least 2030.

“Their trust in our series for their latest venture into electrification and innovation is testament to our ability to attract the biggest names in motorsport, as well as our joint ambition to continue to grow this championship.

“It’s a huge privilege for us, and we can’t wait to see what they can do next year when the famous Lola marque hits the track for the first time.”
