After a week recovering from the craziness of Misano, FIA Formula E is back, and Motorsport Week has you covered for everything you need to know ahead of Saturday’s Monaco E-Prix.

Formula E arrives in Monaco amid talk of pelotons, mid-season driver tests and…throttle damper springs?

It was so many hours after the race that Antonio Felix da Costa was disqualified, the overalls in which he took a celebratory backwards flip into a nearby swimming pool were already dry. The hearts of everyone went out to da Costa, who might not even be clad in Porsche overalls come next season, especially given the nature of his disqualification. But rules are rules, and everyone will now be checking their throttle damper springs with a little more due diligence than before.

The return to street racing will see a reduction in peloton racing this weekend, but with over 100 overtakes in last year’s corresponding race, be in no doubt that entertainment will be on offer, and with the whole race weekend packed into one hectic Saturday, it will be a feast of action for the fans.

THE CIRCUIT

The 3.337km circuit is the most famous street circuit on the planet, and since 2022, Formula E have been using the exact same layout used in Formula 1, but in FE, the likelihood of overtaking is far higher, with over 100 overtakes recorded last year. Attack Mode is positioned at the Casino Square corner.

All the weekend’s action is crammed into one day, Saturday 27th. FP1 takes place at 6.25am, FP2 at 8.05, qualifying at 9.40, with the race starting at 14.03 [all BST].

WEATHER

Raceday is expected to reach a cool 15 degrees, with sunny spells, a little cooler than most Monaco race weekends.

LAST YEAR

Nick Cassidy will be hoping to match his win from last year, taking the chequered flag from ninth on the grid. Mitch Evans made it a Kiwi 1-2, with Jake Dennis maintaining his consistency with third. Pole-sitter Jake Hughes finished fifth, with Sacha Fenestraz, who joined him on the front row of the grid, pipping him to fourth. After an impressive performance in Misano, ERT’s Dan Ticktum is well-placed to match his sixth place from 2023.
