Lewis Hamilton helped seal a fourth consecutive Constructors' Championship victory for Mercedes by winning the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin.

Hamilton started from pole position but had a poor start, allowing Sebastian Vettel to take the lead with a lunge up the inside of turn 1 on the first lap.

Despite holding a 1.3 second advantage by the end of the first tour of the circuit, Vettel quickly fell back into the clutches Hamilton and was passed by the Briton on lap five.

From then on in, Hamilton led and remained unchallenged, going on to secure a ninth win of 2017, crossing the line ten seconds ahead of Vettel who cut his way through the pack in the late stages of the race after pitting for a fresh set of tyres late on.

Max Verstappen took third place for Red Bull Racing with a last lap overtake on Kimi Raikkonen but did not stand on the final step of the podium, with the FIA deeming his daring move on Raikkonen illegal, costing him a third consecutive podium. This demoted Dutchman in fourth while Raikkonen secured his first podium finish since the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Valtteri Bottas finished in fifth place in the second Mercedes after struggling from tyre wear throughout while Esteban Ocon crossed the line in sixth place for Force India.

Carlos Sainz Jr impressed on his race debut for Renault by finishing in seventh place while Sergio Perez crossed the line in eighth.

Felipe Massa scored two points for Williams by finishing in ninth while Daniil Kvyat rounded out the top ten finishers in his comeback race for Toro Rosso after sitting out in Malaysia and Japan.

Four drivers failed to see the checkered flag in Austin, with Fernando Alonso, Daniel Ricciardo, Pascal Wehrlein and Nico Hulkenberg retiring from the race.

Through this result, Lewis Hamilton has extended his lead over Sebastian Vettel in the Driver's Championship to 66 points. With only three races remaining and 75 points on offer for the rest of the 2017 season, the Mercedes driver looks set to claim a fourth championship title.
