FIA Formula 2 stars Zane Maloney and Jak Crawford will test for Andretti in official FIA Formula E test sessions over the next two months.
Maloney is the American outfit’s Reserve and Development Driver and has previously taken to the track for the team in three previous test sessions. The Bajan, who currently leads the F2 Drivers’ Championship for Rodin, will be behind the wheel in both the Free Practice O session on April 12th prior to the inaugural Misano E-Prix, as well as Berlin Rookie Test on Monday 13th May, after the double-header in the German capital.
Crawford, who finished second to Maloney in the F2 season-opener in Bahrain and races for DAMS, sitting seventh in the table, will join up with the team in Berlin for what will be the American youngster’s first taste of Formula E.
In an official statement by Andretti, Maloney said he “can’t wait” for the tests, adding: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with the team and thank them for all the trust they have put in me.
“It will be interesting to see how the development work I’ve contributed to behind the scenes translates to the actual car on track during both occasions I get to drive it.”
Crawford was equally as buoyant, saying: “I’m very excited to be joining Andretti for the Berlin Rookie Test.
“It’s an amazing opportunity for me to try out the Formula E Gen3 car for the very first time.
“It will be my first time driving a fully electric car as well, and I can’t wait to see what it’s like.
“Thanks to Andretti Formula E for the incredible opportunity.”
Andretti Team Principal Roger Griffiths said: “Zane has proven to be a valuable asset to our team through his development work on the simulator, and we are
confident that his knowledge will benefit us during the Misano E-Prix doubleheader weekend and the Berlin Rookie Test.”
