Ferrari has debuted its Sport Prototipi Clienti programme, which includes the Ferrari 499P Modificata, at Mugello at an exclusive event for the Italian’s manufacturer’s wealthy customers.

The Ferrari 499P Modificata is an unrestricted version of the car which competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship. With it not needing to obey the regulations, like the Hypercar version of the 499P, the full power of the hybrid battery and motor can be deployed. Along with the V6 internal combustion engine this gives it a total power output of 870hp – far more than the version obeying the Hypercar regulations.

Why does this matter? That’s where the Sport Prototipi Clienti programme comes in. Ferrari’s wealthy customers can purchase a 499P Modificata. But, like Ferrari’s XX programme for its roadcars, the customer can not take the car home. Instead, Ferrari will tell the customer where and when they can drive it, and will bring all the resources needed to run the car at a race track – including engineers, spare parts, tyres, and such like.

This programme is making its formal debut at Mugello. Also present will be the F1 Clienti and XX Programme, which Sport Prototipi Clienti shares a calendar with, allowing Ferrari’s ‘clients’ to drive a variety of cars over the three day event, from Thursday 14th March to Saturday 17th.

They then head east, to Japan’s Suzuka on 28-30 June, before returning to Europe, to Paul Ricard in France 31th July-1st August, Nürburgring in Germany on 6-8th September, before returning to Italy ahead of the concluding event at the Finali Mondiali, Ferrari’s celebration of the racing season, in Imola on 16-20 October.
