Audi's Dries Vanthoor led both Friday practice sessions ahead of the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup penultimate round at the Hungaroring.
Vanthoor led the 40-minute morning run with a time of 1:44.086s, before shaving that down to a 1:42.903 during the longer afternoon session.
In the Audi R8 shared with three-time Le Mans winner Marcel Fassler, Vanthoor out-paced the sister WRT car of Christopher Mies by 0.084 seconds.
Mies had also turned in the second-quickest time during the morning session, while an unexpected charge from Daniel Keilwitz in the Pro-Am class Rinaldi Racing Ferrari produced the highest-placed non-Audi runner.
Keilwitz's time of 1:42.998s was one tenth under the category's next-best entry, the Jules Gounon/Jean-Luc Beaubelique Mercedes, which took seventh outright.
Mirko Bortolotti, who along with Christian Engelhart sits fifth in the standings with two wins, lapped fourth in the Grasser Racing Lamborghini, with a third WRT Audi piloted by Robin Frijns completing the top five.
The championship-leading Mercedes AMG-GT3 driven by Maximilian Buhk and Franck Perera settled for sixth in the day's order, whilst the challenging Audi of Will Stevens and Markus Winkehlock settled for ninth.
HTP Motorsport's Buhk and Perera head into the Hungaroring weekend with a five point advantage over the WRT pair.
The 60-minute qualifying race for Sunday's main event takes place tomorrow (Saturday, August 26th) at 15:50 local time (CEST).
