Carlin driver Ferdinand Habsburg stormed from eighth on the grid to score his first victory in European Formula 3 in race two at Spa-Francorchamps.

The race featured numerous changes for the lead, with polesitter Lando Norris getting a good start to lead the field into the first corner.

However, while Prema’s Callum Ilott could not get past him in the opening race, he did make a move on lap one in race two and took over the lead.

Guan Yu Zhou and the fast-starting Habsburg also challenged Norris into Les Combes, but Zhou and Norris collided – both retired from the race.

Habsburg was delayed by the contact and took to the run-off area, falling to sixth, while championship leader Maximilian Gunther took over as Ilott’s nearest challenger.

Gunther snatched the lead on the second lap, with Ilott then losing out to Jake Hughes, before bouncing back and eventually passing them both.

It was a close battle at the front, as Ilott and Gunther traded the lead, before the former faded and Habsburg moved into contention.

He made a move on Gunther on lap 12 to take the lead and from there, went on to score his first European F3 win. However, it was not Gunther who claimed second place.

Title contender Joel Eriksson started 12th and after making up progress early on, picked his way up the order to muscle ahead of Gunther on the penultimate lap.

Hughes made up for his race one DNF with fourth, ahead of Nikita Mazepin and Carlin’s Jehan Daruvala – who lost a spot on the final lap at the last corner.

Ilott dropped to seventh, with Ralf Aron, Mick Schumacher and Joey Mawson completing the top 10.
