Fernando Alonso’s grid penalty for the British Grand Prix is now up to 30 places after new power unit elements were fitted prior to Saturday’s third practice session.

Alonso entered the weekend with a five-place demotion for using his fifth Energy Store of the season, though Honda warned that further sanctions were likely to follow.

These were confirmed on Saturday morning, with the FIA revealing that an eighth Turbocharger and eighth MGU-H have been installed in his McLaren MCL32.

These sanctions come with a 10- and five-place penalty respectively.

A sixth Internal Combustion Engine and sixth MGU-K have also been installed, with each of these transgressions earning a five-place demotion.

Combined, the respective penalties have resulted in a 30-place demotion, meaning Alonso is likely to start the British Grand Prix from the back of the grid.

McLaren team-mate Stoffel Vandoorne has yet to pick up any engine-related penalties this weekend.
