Prema driver Charles Leclerc continued his Formula 2 qualifying clean-sweep with his sixth consecutive pole position of the season.

The current F2 championship leader was over four tenths quicker than his closest rival in the 30-minute qualifying session at Silverstone.

Leclerc was the pacesetter earlier in the session, before lowering his benchmark in the final minutes to put in a 1:38.427 – giving him another F2 pole position.

DAMS driver and Renault junior Oliver Rowland was second, with Arden’s Norman Nato in third place – ahead of MP Motorsport’s Jordan King.

Russian Time’s Artem Markelov was over six tenths off in fifth, ahead of Nicholas Latifi in the second DAMS machine and Sergio Canamasas.

Nobuharu Matsushita was eighth quickest for ART, with team-mate Alexander Albon on 10th after a late off-track excursion.

They were split by Sergio Sette Camara, who qualified on the front row in Austria only to be sent to the back of the grid.

Nyck de Vries and Gustav Malja were next up, ahead of Luca Ghiotto and Louis Deletraz. F2 debutant Callum Ilott was 15th for Trident.

Arden’s Sean Gelael was second slowest in qualifying, and spent part of the session with smoke pouring from the back of his F2 car.
