Audi DTM driver Mike Rockenfeller has suffered a fracture to his left foot after a heavy crash with Gary Paffett during the second Norisring race.
Mid-way through Sunday’s race, Paffett made contact with Jamie Green on the fast run down to the hairpin and lost control of his Mercedes.
He hit the barrier hard, with his out-of-control car sliding down the track and smashing into Rockenfeller’s Audi at the hairpin.
Both drivers were able to get out of their cars, although Rockenfeller was seen limping, and they were taken to hospital for checks.

Paffett escaped injury but Rockenfeller has “sustained a fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone of his left foot”, Audi has confirmed.
The accident between Paffett and Rockenfeller caused the race to be red flagged, before eventually resuming. It was won by Maxime Martin.
“We’re happy that nothing more serious happened to Mike [Rockenfeller] and also to Gary [Paffett] in this really horrible-looking accident,” Dieter Gass, head of Audi motorsport, said.
“This proves once again how high the safety standards are in the DTM.”
