Carlin’s Jehan Daruvala held off Maximilian Gunther to claim his first European Formula 3 victory in the final race at the Norisring.

The Indian driver lined up alongside polesitter Gunther on the front row, but snatched away the lead at the start.

From there, he held a slender lead over Gunther for the vast majority of the race, enduring the pressure of the looming Prema car to hold onto the position.

He had to contend with several full course yellow periods, the first being for Mick Schumacher after early contact with Pedro Piquet.

Daruvala crossed the line after 39 laps just four and a half tenths clear of race one winner Gunther to score his first victory in the series.

Race two winner Lando Norris made a mid-race pass on Jake Hughes and displaced Ralf Aron late on to move up to third place by the chequered flag.

Aron slipped off the podium to fourth, with Hughes backing up his strong pace in the earlier races to round out the top five, just behind his Hitech team-mate.

David Beckmann, Joel Eriksson and Ferdinand Habsburg were next up. After a difficult weekend, Prema’s Callum Ilott was ninth and Nikita Mazepin completed the top 10.
