Former Formula 1 driver Roberto Merhi will return to the FIA World Endurance Championship at the 6 Hours of Nurburgring with the Manor LMP2 team.
The Spaniard will replace Jean-Eric Vergne in the No.24 car alongside Tor Graves and Jonathan Hirschi.
Vergne is unable to race at the Nurburgring as it clashes with the first Formula E race weekend in New York.
The outing will mark Merhi’s first time competing in the FIA WEC since last year’s finale in Bahrain, having competed in most of the 2016 season with Manor.
He missed the Mexico and Shanghai rounds, but scored one podium when his car finished third in the LMP2 class at Spa.
Merhi, who raced for Manor in F1 for most of 2015, has had a limited 2017 campaign so far with a one-off Formula 2 outing for Campos.
He drove at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya but finished both races outside of the points, before being replaced by Robert Visoiu.
