Callum Ilott cruised to his third victory of the European Formula 3 season in the second race of the weekend at the Hungaroring.

Prema driver Ilott started from pole position and put in an accomplished display, resisting Joel Eriksson on the opening lap before pulling clear of his rival thereafter.

Ilott put the hammer down and eventually finished 8.6 seconds clear of Motopark’s Eriksson in a relatively processional race.

Guan Yu Zhou secured his first podium finish of the season in third, having gained the position at the start when Carlin’s Lando Norris bogged down and plunged through the order.

Jake Hughes followed up his podium in the first race with fourth spot, while David Beckmann took his best result of the season in fifth position, having switched from Van Amersfoort to Motopark for the remainder of the season.

Championship leader Maximilian Gunther was a low-key sixth, his run of victories coming to an end, with his advantage in the standings cut as a result, having drifted away from compatriot Beckmann.

Van Amersfoort's Joey Mawson beat Carlin rival Jehan Daruvala for seventh, with Mick Schumacher collecting ninth spot for Prema.

Ferdinand Habsburg rounded out the top 10, while Norris was only 14th after another lacklustre getaway, the McLaren-backed youngster losing further ground in the title race as a result.
