Mahindra driver Felix Rosenqvist backed up his victory at the Berlin ePrix on Saturday with pole position for Sunday’s second race.

The Swedish driver easily progressed through to Super Pole, showing Mahindra’s strong form by snatching pole with a 1:08.208.

He finished just 0.098 seconds clear of championship leader Sebastien Buemi, who bounced back from his Renault e.dams car being excluded from race one.

DS Virgin Racing’s Jose Maria Lope and Sam Bird were third and fourth quickest, despite Bird topping the group stages – with both reporting low grip.

Jean-Eric Vergne was the slowest of the Super Pole runners after a scruffy lap, with Oliver Turvey and Buemi’s title rival Lucas di Grassi just missing out on spots in the final session.

Daniel Abt qualified in eighth, ahead of Jaguar’s Mitch Evans and Nicolas Prost in the second Renault e.dams machine.

New Venturi recruit Tom Dillmann was 15th fastest, just ahead of the driver he has replaced – Stephane Sarrazin, in his Techeetah.

It was a difficult session for Nick Heidfeld in the second Mahindra, after a problem on his full-power 200kW lap.

He will line up 20th and last, meaning the Mahindra’s bookend the grid for the second and final Berlin race at Tempelhof.
