IndyCar has announced that Dallara has been chosen as the sole manufacturer of its new bodywork kit for the 2018 season.
Currently, engine suppliers Honda and Chevrolet produce their own aerokits, but from next season onwards all cars will run with the same bodywork.
Last month, new renders of the superspeedway and road/street course aerokit configurations were officially revealed by the single-seater series.
Long-time partner Dallara has now been named as the bodywork manufacturer, alongside being the sole provider of the DW12 chassis IndyCar has used since 2012.
IndyCar’s new aerokits are designed to “reduce the turbulence a leading car produces” to “improve the chances of a trailing car making a pass”.
The superspeedway oval configuration will make its test debut from July 25-26 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The road course/street course version will be tried out for the first time on August 1 at the Mid-Ohio track.
Other tests are scheduled to take place on August 28 at Iowa Speedway and September 26 at Sebring.
"This has been a collaborative effort from multiple parties, including input from our paddock and fans," Jay Frye, IndyCar president of competition and operations, said.
“Dallara has been a great partner, and we couldn't be more enthused with the look, the safety enhancements and the performance objectives of the 2018 car.”
