Ferrari Driver Academy member Maya Weug has been confirmed as PREMA’s third and final 2024 F1 Academy series driver.
The announcement on Wednesday secures Weug’s place alongside Mercedes Junior Doriane Pin and Aston Martin representative Tina Hausmann.
Born in Spain on June 1, 2004, Weug also holds Belgian and Dutch nationalities and her step into the F1 Academy continues a single-seater career that began with winning the inaugural FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars programme, earning her a place in the Ferrari Driver Academy.
Starting in 2021, Weug campaigned for two seasons in the Italian Formula 4 Championship, scoring several points finishes in her sophomore year.
Her best year to date came in 2023, competing in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine and scoring multiple top ten finishes, fastest laps and a rookie victory.
The F1 Academy will see Weug compete on the world stage as a part of the Formula 1 support package and she’s admittedly “super excited to get back on track this season!
“I’m sure it will be a great season working together with such a prestigious team as PREMA in the second year of an interesting category like F1 Academy,” Weug added.
“It is a great honor to represent Ferrari again this season and I can’t wait to continue the hard work with the Academy and PREMA to prepare the season the best way possible!”

Weug is the eighth driver announced for this year’s F1 Academy with seven more seats left to fill on the 2024 grid ahead of the first round in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on March 07 – 09.
