Rapax driver Nyck de Vries has been given a grid penalty for the next Formula 2 round in Monaco.
The McLaren junior collided with Prema racer Antonio Fuoco in the early stages of the F2 sprint race in Spain.
De Vries attempted a move up the inside of Fuoco at Turn 7 on the opening lap of the race, but he hit the kerb.
This pitched his car into Fuoco’s and they collided, spinning both of them around and causing the safety car to be deployed.
He was deemed responsible by the stewards and has been given a three-place grid penalty for the next race in Monaco.
ART Grand Prix’s Nobuharu Matsushita stormed to victory in the F2 sprint race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya after a late error by DAMS driver Nicholas Latifi.
