Nick Cassidy is targeting the “strongest possible result” this weekend at the season-opening Mexico City E-Prix, where he’ll make his debut for Jaguar TCS Racing.

The Season 9 Vice-Champion has moved from Jaguar’s customer side, Envision Racing, to the full factory outfit for Season 10, where he’s alongside close friend and probable title rival Mitch Evans. Cassidy is viewed as a real contender for the 2024 Drivers’ Championship, and he’s eager to start the year in the “best way” possible.

Last season’s trip to the Mexican capital wasn’t a particularly memorable one for Cassidy, as he had to settle for just two points after finishing ninth. Unsurprisingly, significantly better is expected from him this Saturday.

So far, it seems that he’s settled into the factory Jaguar squad beautifully, as he completed a good haul of laps during last October’s pre-season test – he set the third-fastest time. Cassidy appears to be incredibly relaxed ahead of the season getting underway and has had since August to form a good relationship with Jaguar.

Mitch Evans to utilise Jaguar exit as ‘extra motivation’ in Formula E title push

It does seem to have been an excellent off-season for the Kiwi, who now just wants to get going in Mexico City.

“After months of preparation and getting to know my new team, I can’t wait to compete in my first race for Jaguar TCS Racing,” Cassidy said. “Mexico is a fast, challenging track but one we all look forward to as drivers. We are looking to start the season with the strongest possible result, to kick off our 2024 World Championship campaigns in the best way.”

Cassidy has grown in stature consistently over the last three seasons, with Season 9 having for certain been his best campaign yet in Formula E. Based on his trend of improving every season, the only way he can improve on his 2023 performance is by winning the title this year, something which is very much on the cards.

Jaguar do look very strong ahead of the season-opener, and are viewed as the team to beat.
