Joel Eriksson held off a closing Lando Norris to win the second FIA European Formula 3 race of the weekend at Monza.

The Motopark driver led from pole position and quickly established a comfortable lead over the battling drivers behind him.

Front-row starter Norris recovered from a slow getaway, which dropped him to fourth, to close in on Eriksson across the remaining laps.

However, unlike in race one, Norris was unable to get close enough to make a move, allowing Eriksson to cross the line seven-tenths of a second clear, having been three seconds in front mid-distance.

The Swede clinched his second win of the 2017 season, with Norris backing up his race one victory with the runner-up spot.

Prema’s Mick Schumacher moved into second at the start but, having been passed by Norris, dropped back from the leading duo as the race progressed, finishing a lonely third.

His team-mate Maximilian Günther moved steadily up the field to take fourth, while Ferdinand Habsburg recovered from a first lap excursion through Curva Grande to finish fifth.

Guanyu Zhou was next up, with Callum Ilott again falling down the field and claiming seventh, ahead of race one runner-up Jehan Daruvala.

Ralf Aron and Nikita Mazepin completed the top 10, aided by Harrison Newey and Jake Dennis making contact and retiring.
