Mercedes has confirmed that Head of Motorsport Toto Wolff and Non-Executive Chairman Niki Lauda have extended their contracts with the team through to the end of 2020.

Wolff joined Mercedes from Williams in 2013, shortly after three-time F1 champion Lauda linked up with the manufacturer, as it plotted its path to the top of the sport.

Mercedes has won three successive double championships since 1.6 litre V6 power units were introduced at the start of the 2014 season, taking 51 wins from 59 races.

It marks the latest stage in a busy winter for Mercedes, with Valtteri Bottas having replaced retired champion Nico Rosberg, while James Allison will start work next week as its new Technical Director, after the exit of Paddy Lowe.

"It's great news that Toto and Niki have extended their agreements,” said Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche.

“In 2013, we restructured the management of the team with the clear goal of improving our performance. Since then, however, the results have exceeded our expectations.

“A key factor in this success has been the combination of Toto's entrepreneurial skills and Niki's experience.

“Their renewed commitment gives our programme important continuity for the next four years.”

The new deals for Wolff and Lauda mean they are tied to Mercedes until the end of 2020, when the manufacturer’s current contract with Formula 1 is also set to conclude.

Mercedes confirmed that the shareholding arrangements, with Wolff having a 30% stake, Lauda 10% and Daimler AG 60%, remain unchanged.
