Tony Kanaan will reunite with former sponsor 7-Eleven for select rounds of the 2017 IndyCar Series, Chip Ganassi Racing has confirmed.
Kanaan became synonymous with the colours of the American convenience store chain during the 2000s, winning the 2004 title in the #11 7-Eleven Honda for Andretti Green Racing.
Kanaan will continue to partner with NTT Data as his primary sponsor for 2017, but 7-Eleven will also grace his car for the races at St. Petersburg, Long Beach, Indianapolis and Texas.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling to be back in the 7-Eleven family. 7-Eleven was my home for most of my career in INDYCAR and they were with me for 14 out of my 17 wins,” Kanaan said.
“It’s definitely special to have them with me to celebrate my 20th INDYCAR season and I’m looking forward to getting them to victory circle again like we did many times in the past.
“The 7-Eleven car was a staple in the IndyCar Series for years and most of my fans still come to me and talk about how great of a run we had together. It’s natural for me to be excited that we are reuniting forces now at Ganassi.”
Kanaan will link back up with Honda for the 2017 season following Ganassi’s move away from Chevrolet engine supply.
