Joe Falk’s Circle Sport operation has merged with Curtis Key Sr’s The Motorsports Group for the 2017 NASCAR season.
The merged team will field a single entry in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup series in 2017, with the driver of the No.33 Chevrolet to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
It will compete in the entire Cup season. Ty Dillon and Michael McDowell drove for Circle Sport last year, while Gray Gaulding and Josh Wise split running in The Motorsports Group’s entry.
Falk will run the team, while Key Sr has obtained a percentage of Circle Sport NASCAR Charter in the deal.
“It's great to join forces with Curtis Key, I've known him for a very long time and know we share the same feelings about racing,” Falk said on the news.
The CS/TMG effort will be run out of The Motorsports Group’s facility in Mooresville, North Carolina.
Veteran crew chief Pat Tryson has returned to TMG, having previously been part of the team in 2015 for its transition from the Xfinity series to the Cup category.
