Lewis Hamilton is keeping his spirits high for the final few races of the season despite the mountain he must climb if he's to secure a fourth world title this year, with team-mate and championship leader Nico Rosberg 26 points ahead with three races remaining.
That means Rosberg can afford to finish second in every race with Hamilton winning all three, and still claim the title. The German could also take it this weekend if he wins and Hamilton fails to score.
Despite what seems an incredibly tough hurdle to overcome if he's to win – and one that is reliant on Rosberg hitting problems – Hamilton insists he's not giving up as "anything can happen" as he knows from experience.
"I’ve just continued to keep a positive frame of mind, avoid dwelling on the past, work and train hard and I knew eventually the result would come," he said of his Austin win last weekend – his 50th of his career.
"The moment you give up is the moment you lose. I’ve never been one to give up and I don’t plan on starting now. There are still plenty of points available and anything is possible."
Rosberg Keeping it Simple
Rosberg meanwhile is continuing in his approach of taking every race weekend one step at a time, without focussing on the ultimate goal of the championship as that could prove to be a distraction.
"My approach is to keep it simple," he said. "There are many things that can happen during a race weekend which are out of your control, so it’s best to just block all that out and focus on the job at hand.
"That’s what’s worked best for me and how I feel at my strongest."
