ART GP driver and Haas F1 protege Charles Leclerc took pole in Friday's qualifying session ahead of the Malaysia feature race, taking pole ahead of ART team mates Alexander Albon and Nyck de Vries.
It was a fantastic afternoon for the French outfit, with Nirei Fukuzmi completing their programme in eighth place.
Albon and de Vries took turns trading fastest lap times initially. Alex Palou held on to provisional pole briefly, but Leclerc stormed through to break the 1 minute 50 barrier.
Leclerc's third consecutive pole position solidifes his claim on the GP3 title this year, and the Monegasque driver was the only to improve on a lap time of 1:50, posting a pole time of 1:49.861.
Behind the front three was Arden man Jack Aitken, then Palou, Arjun Maini, Fukuzumi, Sandy Stuvik, Jake Dennis, and the Campos car of Steijn Schothorst completed the top 10.
GP3's first ever qualifying session in Malaysia proved a routine one, with no incidents of note taking place during the session.
