The speeds were high for IndyCar qualifying around the newly repaved Laguna Seca, and it was Felix Rosenqvist that was the fastest of all.
The Swede lapped the course in 1:06.6416 to take his second pole of the season, completing his lap less than 0.01 seconds faster than Scott McLaughlin, but well faster than the previous record set by Helio Castroneves in 2000.
Juri Vips was quite impressive in his second-ever IndyCar event, just missing out on the Fast Six and placing his RLL Honda in the seventh starting position.

A few drivers pushed a bit too hard and slid through the gravel, including Will Power and Pato O’Ward, but the final pole runs were relatively incident free.
