Red Bull decide against running F-duct

Red Bull have decided against running their F-duct system in the Turkish grand prix this weekend.

Similar systems are currently in use by McLaren, Mercedes, Ferrari, Force India and Sauber.

Whilst the system did provide a straight-line speed advantage, the resultant downforce compromise by using the system led to the decision not to use it in Turkey.

Red Bull were the second quickest team through the speed trap in second practice, less than half a kilometre down of McLaren – the team behind the innovative blown rear-wing concept.

The Milton Keynes based team have already managed to secure pole position in every race this season, they are also favourites to secure this weekends pole, with or without the F-duct.

It’s likely the system will reappear in Canada, a track where such a system will provide a huge advantage.
