Qualifying for IndyCar’s Gallagher Grand Prix took place on Friday afternoon, with only one practice session beforehand for drivers to come to grips with the track.
It was Graham Rahal that surprised onlookers by taking his first pole in nearly six years, putting in a lap that was fractionally quicker than his team-mate Christian Lundgaard.
Arrow McLaren and Andretti Autosport filled the second and third rows respectively with their entries, with Devlin DeFrancesco making it to the Fast Six for the first time in his career.

Team Penske had a rough qualifying run, with Will Power and Josef Newgarden only able to claim the 17th and 19th spots respectively.
The final race of the season at IndyCar’s home track takes place on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM Eastern Time.
