Sebastian Vettel topped the final practice session for the Bahrain Grand Prix as Ferrari finally showed its hand on the super-soft tyre ahead of qualifying.
Vettel’s team-mate Kimi Raikkonen completed the top two for Ferrari, with the pair both lapping well under 1m32s, whereas the Mercedes duo of Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton could only manage third and fourth, almost half a second down.
Fifth-place went to Williams driver Valtteri Bottas with a 1m32.675s, closely followed by the Haas of Romain Grosjean whilst Red Bull’s Daniil Kyat split the Haas pair with Esteban Gutierrez eighth.
Felipe Massa and Daniel Ricciardo completed the top ten, more than 1.5s down on Vettel’s best.
The session was a fairly uneventful one, with Fernando Alonso stand-in Stoffel Vandoorne suffering a minor oil spill which kept him in the garage for longer than he’d have hoped. However the young-Belgian managed to finish 14th quickest, just one place and 0.020s behind team-mate Jenson Button.
Renault’s Jolyon Palmer ended the session with a puncture, having finished P20 compared to Kevin Magnussen’s 12th place.
The Manor pairing of Rio Haryanto and Pascal Wehrlein brought up the rear, with the former 3.8s adrift and the latter just over four seconds back.
