Nico Rosberg upped the pace on Tuesday morning after bolting on a set of soft tyres to post a 1:23.022.
The German's best was just two-tenths shy of Sebastian Vettel's best laptime from last week's test, despite the Ferrari man using Pirelli's new quicker Ultra-Soft compound.
Rosberg also topped the mileage counter, lapping the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya 82 times before lunch, after which he will hand his car over to team-mate Lewis Hamilton.
Kimi Raikkonen was second fastest ahead of McLaren's Fernando Alonso who enjoyed a far better morning compared his final run last week which saw him complete just three laps. The Spaniard completed 50 laps before stopping at the pitlane exit to cause a red flag.
Felipe Nasr debuted the new Sauber C35 for the first time on-track, posting a 1:26.923 to go ninth fastest before lunch.
Manor's Rio Haryanto completed just one lap before he was sidelined with an oil leak according to his team.
