Pramac rider Danilo Petrucci will miss the final MotoGP pre-season test after fracturing his right-hand on the final day of the Phillip Island test.
The Italian was just one of ten riders to crash on Friday, though he was the only one to come away injured.
He was immediately taken to the circuit's medical centre where he was diagnosed with a fractured second, third and fourth metacarpal in his right-hand. He was later transferred to a hospital in Melbourne for further analysis.
The injury will certainly rule him out of the final pre-season test in Doha, Qatar, but it isn't clear if he will be able to start the new season at the same venue on March 20.
"The weather conditions did not help us working on set up and Danilo's accident is too big a price to pay," said team manager Francesco Guidotti.
"It's never the right time to fall and hurt but surely this is a particularly sensitive time. It is frustrating, we know. But we must look to the future with strength and determination.
"We have to focus on the Danilo's recovery, the whole team is with him. We are confident that he will recover soon: the hope is that he will be on track for the GP in Qatar but now is too early to have a clear scenary."
