Nick Heidfeld will be back in his Mahindra Formula E car for the Buenos Aires ePrix after evaluating a wrist injury during Friday's shakedown, his team confirmed to Grand Prix Times.
The German was ruled out of round two in Punta del Este after he tore a scapholunate ligament in his left-wrist during the Putrajaya ePrix in November. He was taken to hospital where he had two pins inserted into his wrist.
Heidfeld had the pins removed in January and has been recovering since. He has limited movement in his wrist and it was feared he wouldn't be fit enough to make his return this weekend.
Multiple simulator runs as well as a run in a GP2 car last week convinced Heidfeld to travel to Argentina to further evaluate whether his wrist would allow him to race.
Following a 30-minute shakedown, Heidfeld felt he was able to drive at the required level and has therefore decided he will take part in Saturday's event.
