Jaguar drivers Sam Bird and Mitch Evans reflect on a historic 1-2 victory for the team in Berlin

Jaguar continue their fine form, going from strength to strength in Season 9 scoring two double podiums in a row.

Evans also wins his second Formula E race in a row, off the back of his victory in Sao Paulo. Despite not qualifying as well as expected, Evans was able to use strategy and his race craft to keep it clean and carve through the field.

The Kiwi is no stranger to success at double headers, winning both races in Rome last season which catapulted him into the title fight.

After two difficult rounds in Hyderabad and Cape Town, Evans says he is relieved to start stringing together some good results as he looks to claim his first title in Formula E.

“I needed a couple of good races and this is exactly what the team delivered today in Berlin. There is still a long way to go this season but the main thing is we’re back in the hunt.”

Evans and Bird used their close positions to benefit one another, working hard to protect their track position while conserving energy and not being the car out ahead for too long.

“I found myself in the lead a little bit too early. There were 17 laps to go and I felt like I had good pace, but it was just too long. I kind of half tried to break the tow, but it just wasn’t possible.”

Bird has been on somewhat of a redemption arc this season, struggling hugely in season 8, his second-place finish is his third podium of the season and highest-scoring position of the season.

“I feel like we’ve been working towards this for a while now but to get back-to-back double podiums feels incredible. We have a competitive package and it was very well executed by the team.”

The Briton has finished no lower than fourth so far this year but has been involved in his fair share of incidents and issues. However, Bird is confident the pace is there for the team to have strong results when things go their way.

“We’ve been quick everywhere we’ve gone this year and for numerous reasons at times we haven’t delivered what we could do, but there are a couple of races we’ve started to showcase just what we’re made of as a team.”
