Gabriel Bortoleto has taken back-to-back Feature Race victories in the FIA Formula 3 Championship after prevailing in Melbourne.

The Brazilian driver backed up his strong drive from Bahrain with an impressive run to first place at the Albert Park track, where he was forced to defend from Gregoire Saucy.

Bortoleto and Saucy started in first and second respectively, with the former managing to retain his lead off the line.

There were a number of early retirements in the race, including Sebastian Montoya, who finished Saturday’s race on the podium.

Franco Colapinto, who suffered a heartbreaking disqualification from a race-winning position on Saturday, crashed out, as did Mari Boya who was involved in a high-speed collision.

Kaylen Frederick also retired under the Safety Car after making contact with Nikola Tsolov.

Another Safety Car was called on lap 12 when Ido Cohen was pitched into the wall by Rafael Villagomez.

At the front, Saucy hounded Bortoleto in the final laps but couldn’t overtake, forcing him to settle for second place.

Gabriele Mini took the final spot on the podium as he fell away from the leading duo as the race wore on.

Bortoleto’s Trident team-mate Leonardo Fornaroli was fourth, with Sprint Race winner Zak O’Sullivan taking fifth on the road.

Luke Browning was sixth following his difficult day on Saturday, ahead of the other two Prema drivers of Paul Aron and Dino Beganovic.

Pepe Marti arguably produced the drive of the day as he advanced from 30th to ninth at the chequered flag, while Taylor Barnard took the final point on offer.
