The 2022 NTT IndyCar Series champion Will Power is reported to have signed an extension with Team Penske to keep him racing for the team past this season.

Power’s contract was set to expire at the end of this season, but there was little doubt from him or from others in the paddock that he would continue to find a home within the powerhouse team.

The new contract is believed to be a multi-year extension, lasting at least through the 2025 season.

Team Penske has yet to officially confirm the news, but the veteran driver has said that a new deal has been signed.

Power is racing this season as the reigning series champion after putting in a remarkably consistent performance throughout the year last year.

He only earned one victory, but was in the top five positions 13 of the year’s 17 events and earned pole five times to become IndyCar’s most prolific qualifier of all time.

The 42-year-old has continued his calm demeanor this season, aiming to take more successes this season as one of the most senior drivers on the grid.

He was able to stay out of trouble at the season’s opening race in St. Petersburg, not an easy task given the number of crashes, and started the season with a seventh place result.

Power started his time with Team Penske in the 2009 season with a part time deal, but turned that into a full time arrangement in 2010 and has been with the team ever since.

He has earned 2 championships, 36 wins, and numerous poles in his tenure with the team up to this point, and has sported the iconic #12 on the side of his car for every year except 2015 when he chose to run the #1 on account of his title victory the previous year.
