Jenson Button will miss his second qualifying session of the 2015 season following an ERS-related failure during final practice on Saturday morning.
The Briton brought out the red flags during FP3 when his McLaren-Honda came to halt toward the end of the session.
Speaking ahead of qualifying, McLaren’s Jonathan Neale confirmed Button’s day was over following the problem: “Yes, obviously not a good day for us today,” he said. “Jenson went out and described an immediate power loss.
“When you have that it would send metal into the power unit, so we won’t have the car out [again today].”
Button was also forced to miss Bahrain qualifying this season due to a Honda power unit problem.
