Fernando Alonso’s manager is certain the Spaniard will be declared fit to take part in the Malaysian Grand Prix next week.
The McLaren driver was sidelined on doctors orders following a test crash which saw him suffer minor concussion.
Due to the possibility of a second impact in Australia – which could have devastating consequences – he sat out the race with Kevin Magnussen substituting him.
Alonso will however be back in action next week according to Luis Garcia-Abad.
“Fernando will be in Malaysia,” he said confidently on Saturday morning.
The 33-year-old is due to undergo an official FIA medical examination on Sunday which will decide whether or not he is now in a position to race.
“Fernando is well and he will pass the tests for sure, it is a mere formality,” added a representative for the two-time champion’s management who, along with Alonso’s father, was speaking at an event near the McLaren driver’s home town.
