Raul Fernandez produced a stunning time to demolish the lap record and claim top spot from the timed Indonesian MotoGP practice session.
Fernandez spent the majority of Practice as the fastest rider, and cemented his position at the top of the standings with an all-time lap record of Mandalika.
His 1:28.725s saw him comfortably the fastest rider, leading an Aprilia 1-2-3 ahead of both factory riders – with Marco Bezzecchi second and Jorge Martin third.
Pedro Acosta was fourth, 0.669s down on Fernandez’s best lap time, while Marc Marquez completed the top five with a 0.004s gap to Fabio Di Giannantonio in sixth.
Despite a heavy crash, Fabio Quartararo finished seventh at the chequered flag, while Alex Marquez slid out on his final flying run and took eighth.
Franco Morbidelli completed a strong Friday morning in ninth and Francesco Bagnaia claimed the final direct Q2 spot in 10th.
Alex Rins crashed with two minutes left on the clock and narrowly missed out on a direct Q2 spot in 11th, with Jack Miller in 12th and Ai Ogura hampered by yellow flags in 13th.
Luca Marini took the chequered flag in 14th, as Fermin Aldeguer had a second crash of the day and suffered a technical problem towards the end of the session to end up 15th.
Toprak Razgatlioglu finished practice in 16th ahead of Brad Binder, while Johann Zarco led LCR Honda team-mate Diogo Moreira with the pair in 18th and 19th respectively.
Maverick Vinales finished 20th and with a 0.002s gap to team-mate Enea Bastianini, who crashed twice towards the end of the session and finished 21st, while Aleix Espargaro completed the standings in 22nd.
