In one of his first off-the-cuff comments since his departure from CPRL, Jason Plato has blasted his former British Touring Car Championship driver Dan Rowbottom.
Plato Racing entered administration just days after Adam Morgan piloted the Mercedes A35 Saloon to its maiden victory at Knockhill, starting a remarkably swift turn in fortunes for the outfit.
Documents revealed the move was triggered by majority shareholder Cataclean, with the company suffering over £800,000 of debt since its inception.
Since then, Cataclean have provided interim funding for the team to continue racing, with strong results continuing to flow in courtesy of two more Morgan wins at Donington Park.
However, Rowbottom has been yet to claim a victory in 2026, though he does have a few podiums to his name.
The latest came at Croft, with a P2 in Race 2, in a weekend which also saw ‘Rowbo’ receive a penalty for track limits violations.
In fairness he was not the only one to be penalised by a stricter ruleset, but the Worcestershireman has found himself on the wrong side of track boundaries frequently during CPRL’s maiden campaign.
Then, in Silverstone‘s Race to Pole, Rowbottom struggled to a P17 finish as a five-second time penalty pushed him down the tightly-packed order.
Such has clearly irritated Plato, who took to X on Saturday night to vent his frustrations at his former business partner.
“What Rowbo? Track limits again surely not,” Plato sarcastically posted, before doubling-down in a comment to a fan.
“Just drawing attention to facts that have been pointed out many many many many times to the legend that is 32 [Rowbottom’s car number].”
Fan reactions to the comments has been mixed, with them adding to a controversial day that saw Ricky Collard call out Osamu Kawashima’s driving standards – after the latter replaced him at Team VERTU.
