Adam Morgan and Dan Rowbottom have spoken of their delight after Donington Park‘s British Touring Car Championship Race to Pole, where CPRL scored a 1-2.

The Cataclean-backed outfit showed little signs of on-track bother after a rollercoaster week, which has seen the business enter administration.

The company entered administration on Monday, before confirming that they would continue in the BTCC for the remainder of the 2026 campaign on Tuesday.

While administrators pursue a going-concern sale, Cataclean are funding the team to run under the CPRL banner – without Jason Plato or his associated purple look.

The pair of Mercedes A35 Saloons were expected to be competitive in the East Midlands, but few may have tipped them to do so well after all the upheaval.

“The team’s performed, you know, epically,” Rowbottom said, who has faced a tirade of online abuse since Monday.

“Certainly this week’s been very, very hard, and everyone’s just took it in their stride, carried on and been uber, uber professional.

“It’s just testament to everybody that’s continued this to go.

“Obviously, the businesses in administration, without Caterclean continuing to fund it this weekend, we wouldn’t be here. So they’ve been fantastic.

“But the continued support of all of our partners, you know, Cataclean, Cicely Commercials, Asus, Snap-on. You know, the guys like Zircotec and Race Parts that have been really, really, really good trade support for us.

“We wouldn’t have been able to do it without anybody, so yeah.

“And obviously, the BTCC itself has accommodated us, so yeah, fantastic day in the best championship in the UK.”

While the headlines focus on CPRL’s story, much needs to be reserved for an in-form Morgan. Image: BTCC

Adam Morgan takes second pole position in as many BTCC outings

Knockhill saw Morgan take his first pole position in eight years, and his first victory in four.

Clearly, the Mercedes man is gunning to follow that up with a strong performance at Donington Park’s GP layout – having taken back-to-back poles for the first time.

While Rowbottom joked to Morgan that his poles are akin to London buses, Morgan is thriving in the car he finds a ‘privilege’ to drive.

“We start P1 P2 for Race 1 tomorrow which is where the big points are,” Morgan said.

“I’m just so happy to be out driving this car and we’re finding more and more every time we go out.

“It’s just getting stronger, so it’s just a privilege to drive and hats off to all these boys who’ve been working incredibly hard behind the scenes to to get it to where it is now.

I”t’s been a very busy season, a very busy week but just to reward [the team] for all their efforts over the last eight months it’s just amazing.

“I’ve doubled my pole tally in two weeks, so yeah I’m feeling so confident at the minute so we just we just keep riding this wave and see where we go.”
