Ryan Bensley is feeling more and more confident in his Speedworks Corolla, as his first full-time British Touring Car Championship stint continues.
Bensley stepped into the car at Thruxton following the summer break, with Max Buxton taking a step back into Speedworks’ reserve driver role.
The move marked his first proper stint in the series, having previously completed a one-off weekend for Team VERTU at Snetterton in 2025.
While he scored points on his debut that weekend, the Speedworks man is yet to finish in the top 15 in 2026.
Thruxton was a tricky weekend as he got to grips with the machinery, though his pace at Knockhill could have rewarded him with more than the scorecard shows. Though, he has scored competitively in the Jack Sears Trophy – most importantly outperforming fellow newcomer Lewis Gilbert.
With the positives from Knockhill, Bensley is eager to get behind the wheel at Donington Park.
“I’ve got a couple of weekends under my belt now and I’m feeling more comfortable in the car every time I get in it,” Bensley said.
“Knockhill was really encouraging from a pace point of view. The results perhaps didn’t show the whole picture, but I felt like we made another good step and I was much closer to where I want to be.
“That gives me a lot of confidence going into Donington.
“I’m understanding the Corolla better, I’m getting to know the team and how everything works over a BTCC weekend, and now I want to start turning that progress into results.
“I’ve definitely got the bit between my teeth. I’m really motivated. I can’t wait to get back in the car and I’m going to Donington determined to get stuck in and keep moving forward.”
