Trackhouse Racing rider Ai Ogura smashed the all-time lap record to claim his maiden pole position in MotoGP in Brno.

The Japanese rider dominated aboard his RS-GP, setting an unstoppable 1.51.139s, a time two tenths quicker than the rest of the field.

Fabio Di Giannantonio topped proceedings after the first set of runs, but the VR46 Ducati rider will start from the middle of the front row.

Francesco Bagnaia qualified in third place on the factory Ducati, lapping only 0.030s off his fellow competitor.

Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi could only muster fourth place on the factory Aprilia, though it positioned him well for both races as closest rival Jorge Martin qualified 10th.

Despite his first run being written off due to exceeding track limits, reigning champion Marc Marquez lapped fifth quickest overall.

Diogo Moreira impressed to seal sixth on his LCR Honda, lapping half a second quicker than the next Japanese marque.

Raul Fernandez secured seventh for Trackhouse, followed by KTM’s Pedro Acosta and Q1 qualifier Franco Morbidelli.

Gresini’s Fermin Aldegeur and Honda’s Joan Mir salvaged 11th and 12th place, respectively.

Maverick Vinales missed out on the second phase of qualifying by the narrowest of margins, meaning he will start 13th on the grid.

Gresini’s Alex Marquez, on his comeback after his Barcelona crash, placed his Ducati in 14th, though was less than a tenth of a second off a place in Q2.

Fabio Quartararo continued to be Yamaha’s reference rider, qualifying in 15th place for the Japanese outfit.

Honda’s Luca Marini and Tech3 KTM’s Enea Bastianini qualified 16th and 17th, respectively, ahead of Pramac rider Jack Miller.

Factory Yamaha’s Alex Rins finished the session in 19th place, bettering only Brad Binder and stable mate Toprak Razgatlioglu.

LCR Honda stand-in Cal Crutchlow closed out proceedings as the British rider finished less than a second off Razgatlioglu’s time.
