Tom Gamble set the fastest time in both the afternoon session of Le Mans test day, and the fastest time overall, with a 3:26.293 in the #007 Aston Martin Valkyrie.
The car completed 40 laps in total in the 3 hour session. Gamble was 0.108 faster than Brendon Hartley in the #8 Toyota, with Norman Nato third in the #12 Cadillac, over half a second off Gamble’s session-topping time.
The #8 Toyota had had a coming together late in the morning session with the #25 Algarve Pro LMP2 car, but Toyota confirmed prior to the beginning of the afternoon session that the damage was not serious and would be repaired.
Fourth was the #35 Alpine of Ferdinand Habsburg, continuing their good form in the morning session, with fifth going to Le Mans debutant Victor Martins in the sister #36 Alpine.
LMP2 was topped by Job van Uitert in the #28 IDEC Sport Oreca, with a 3:35.344 to go quickest. He was 0.175 faster than Mathias Beche in the #14 TDS Racing Oreca, while Matthieu Vaxiviere was third in the #183 AF Corse Oreca, well over half a second off van Uitert.
Francesco Castellacci set a 3:56.646 in the #54 AF Corse Ferrari LMGT3 car to set the class’s fastest time, with second in class going to Timur Boguslavkiy in the #91 DK Engineering Manthey Porsche. Boguslavskiy was just 0.009 off Castellacci. Third in class was Jonny Edgar in the #33 TF Sport Corvette, a further 0.230 adrift.
