Tommy Bridewell admits he was “lost for words” after his career-best performances across the WorldSBK weekend at Aragon.
Bridewell committed to a full-time WorldSBK ride from the second round of the season at Portimao, and has posted some impressive performances
However, his Aragon round was his biggest stand-out to date after earning a hat trick of top 10 finishes from the weekend.
The first race of the weekend saw Bridewell finish inside the top five for the first time on the world stage, and he admitted he was mindblown by his achievement.
“I’m lost for words to a certain degree,” Bridewell told WorldSBK.com after his Saturday heroics.
“This was the pipe dream of probably everyone involved in some sense.
“The team was formed very last minute and now we’re stood here, finishing fifth in the world. The level of WorldSBK is exceptional.
“The pace honestly blows my mind sometimes with how fast we’re going!”
Bridewell had initially expected to compete with the Superbike Advocates team in British Superbikes, but made a late switch to the world stage after winter testing at Portimao.
After recent successes, Bridewell sits 16th in the championship and has become a consistent points finisher on his satellite Ducati machinery.
The British rider admitted their efforts in Aragon were a result of the hard work from the team, as well as the strength of the Ducati package.
“I’m super proud to be flying the flag for Superbike Advocates, Lee and his whole family have formed this team and put their faith in me.
“I think finishing fifth here at Aragon in WorldSBK, only my second time here, it’s testament to how well the whole team is doing.
“It just goes to show how well Ducati are working. Really proud to have such a great performance this early in our WorldSBK career.”
