Helio Castroneves has confirmed that he will take part in the upcoming 110th running of the Indianapolis 500.
Castroneves, who will be 51 years old in May, took to social media to announce his return for his 26th Indy 500 attempt.
He will pilot the #06 Meyer Shank Racing entry, and will have backing from Cleveland-Cliffs as a sponsor.
Castroneves holds the joint record with four Indy 500 wins to his name, with the most recent one coming in 2021 to secure MSR’s only IndyCar victory to date.
He is once again using the slogan Drive for Five to chronicle this attempt at earning his fifth Borg-Warner trophy this May and stand alone in the record books.
“Let me tell you, we have some amazing news right now,” said an energetic Castroneves on social media.
“The Drive for Five is still alive! That’s right, we’re going to come back this year for the Indy 500 again with the #06 Honda Cliffs machine. We’re going to be ready for the Indy 500. Let’s get ready together.”
This year’s event will mark Castroneves’ 26th Indianapolis 500, placing him well up the order of drivers that have the most starts in history.
He still has many more attempts to go until he matches AJ Foyt’s record of 35 Indy 500 starts, however.
The 110th running of the Indianapolis 500 takes place on May 24, 2026.
