IndyCar put on an exciting 250-lap event Saturday afternoon at Phoenix Raceway, completing the series’ first race at the track since 2018.

Josef Newgarden earned his 33rd career victory with late charge on fresh tires, blasting past multiple drivers in the closing laps to get the job done.

Kyle Kirkwood was second across the line and David Malukas was a second representative for Team Penske on the podium with a third place run in the #12.

Alex Palou found a rare bit of misfortune when he failed to notice Rinus VeeKay to his outside and ran them both into the outside wall. The reigning champion finished 24th.

The most exciting driver of the day was Christian Rasmussen, who sliced and diced his way through the field but late contact caused suspension damage that ended his chances.

The busy start to the season continues with a third race in as many weeks around the brand new Arlington street course on March 15.
