Colton Herta’s hotly-anticipated first official Formula 2 appearance was truncated early after hitting the barriers in practice.
The American has given up his IndyCar career to race in the premier feeder series with Hitech, dovetailing with his role as a development driver for the Cadillac Formula 1 team.
Clad in Cadillac livery, Herta took to the Albert Park Circuit on Friday morning for his first on-track race weekend outing.
But, unfortunately, Herta lost the backend on the exit of Turn 10 and slid into the barrier backwards.
